We have supported a long-term Johannesburg-based client with training on problem-solving skills for decision making. However, their B-BBEE Verification Agency had informed them that they would only consider formal unit standard-based training for B-BBEE skills development points. This meant that valuable, business-oriented training would no longer be recognised, and this was a significant concern. We saw the opportunity to develop a Skills Programme in Problem-solving based on three unit standards drawn from our most popular Learnership offering in Generic Management.
As TLC’s Learnership Co-ordinator Nikita Fynn says, “Using our accredited material and ensuring it matched the client’s preferred problem-solving methodologies, allowed us to meet both needs with one solution.”
Four days of classroom training, run by experienced Learnership facilitator and accredited assessor Todd Clark, are complemented with practical workplace-based assignments to entrench the learning.
“We’re really excited at the potential of this Skills Programme to help clients train their staff in key Problem-solving skills, while also adding points to their B-BBEE scorecards in the priority element of Skills Development,” says Nikita. “This great solution could definitely add value to any company!”
The course includes tools on how to solve problems, implement solutions and make decisions. It covers analysis and reporting of data and provides a structured approach for business improvement initiatives.
