Evaluate the current state of a process and identify cycle time, value-added and non-value add to a activities.
We provide a range of consulting services to support our clients with solving complex problems. We teach, reflect, coach and provide feedback to build capability within an organization. Our philosophy is to work ourselves out of a job and to ensure you are able to continue with the solution implemented.
Value stream mapping (VSM) is a pencil and paper tool that helps you to see and understand the flow of material and information as a product makes its way through your process. It plots the high level steps, the flow of work, information and communication, queues and work in progress (WIP) in order to evaluate the current state of a process, identify the value-added steps, and create the future improved state.
It is not about making people work faster or harder; it is about establishing a system so that work units and/or information can flow through the streamline Value Stream at the pace of customer demand.
A value stream map that documents what is happening today is known as the ‘current state’ map. The process should clearly show opportunities for improvement. This activity will help you to identify waste, value add and non-value add activities and identify key problem areas on the value stream map.
